I currently have AAM mid pipe (non resonator, non cat) with Stillen exhaust (no resonators). How much louder will it get with cat-less DPs? I understand sound is relative but was it small, med, big increase?

I love how it sounds now. Even a bit louder I wouldn't mind.

If for some reason I get a ticket by the police for too loud exhaust is it possible to reinstall the OEM mid pipe temporarily with a tune installed?

i had stock dp's, non res non cat md, and meisterschaft exhaust. sounded great to me. once i added catless dp's the sound was REALLY loud. besides volume i didn't care for the raspy tone. replaced mp with a cobb catted mp and now it's back to a sound level and tone i like. still loud though due to the meisterschaft.

quick vid of totally catless setup

The sound increase from downpipes is somewhat dependent on brand and construction. Thin wall pipe will create more noise and have a tinny sound while thick wall pipes with cast end pieces, (AMS) will not be that much louder than stock. The thin wall ones will resonate into the interior and be much louder. I have AMS DP's and hardly noticed any increase in cabin volume after installation..

David is absolutely correct... We had the prototype DPs in my car, then put the production pieces in--the sound level in truly near-OEM DP levels @ cruise & idle. WOT is when it roars.

I'm assuming you are referring to the production AMS pieces? They do look really well made.
Sorry, I should have qualified that... Titan--awesome quality as well.

Where can I check out the Titan Downpipes to compare? Can't seem to find them anywhere
They just finished prototyping on my car--you can contact them to inquire. Not sure what the cost will be, but I'm sure they'll be competitive.

I never thought about it getting raspier or tinny sounding but now that you guys brought it up it is definitely a concern. My current setup with stock DPs only sounds raspy the first 1 min of engine warmup. After that it sounds great. Want to keep it that way.

I went from just a NON-Res mid pipe and put on Catless downpipes. It became raspy to me at 4000rpms. I put on a borla resonator, and made it sound great to me.
I have fabricated type downpipes.

My buddy has the same setup, AAM NON-Res mid and Catless downpipes, stock catback. Sounds good, but personally I don't like the rasp from 3900-4100rpms, some people like it. He has AMS downpipes. Sounded quieter than mine, but the rasp was similar in my ears.

Titek's DP seem to be at a good price range ($999)with a 90mm cast bellmouth. I'm not sure how thick or thin it is, when concerning with the sound. http://store.sp-powe.../detail/id/4105
the Titek's are the largest as they are 90mm all the way through, the others neck down to 76mm after the bell mouth.

Where did you install the Borla resonator?
