Hi guys
I have argued with one of my friends about gtr tires
He's saying the gtr tires are under semi slick category <<He means all the gtr tires even if it's from the factory are semi slick
I want to know if the gtr tires are semi slick
from 2007 to 2012
My opinion was it's not
because as they said from the this website

From the factory, there were three runflat tire choices filled with nitrogen. Front tires are a 255/40/20. Rear tires are a 285/35/20 The premium tire was the Bridgestone Potenza RE070, it is a treadwear 140 tire. The Bridgestone tires run about $1700 a set. The base tire was the Dunlop SP SPORT 600 DSST CTT, that is a treadwear 200 tire. The Dunlop 600's run about ($1780 a set). The Dunlop is the quick tire for the Nissan GT-R on the track. It will have a little more road noise than the Potenza, but on a track, it will be a few seconds a lap faster than the Potenza. The last choice, which might be your first choice would be the all season Dunlop 7010 all season tires, treadwear 240. They cost about $1816 per set. The all season Dunlops come standard with the cold weather package.

Bridgestone Potenza RE070
Dunlop SP SPORT 600 DSST
Dunlop 7010 all season tires, treadwear 240

I'm waiting for your replays guys

by semi slick do you mean r compound like michellin cup, toyo 888, or pirelli corsa tires? the answer to that is the gtr does NOT have r compound tires as stock.
So do you mean all these tires are under semi slick category ??
Bridgestone Potenza RE070
Dunlop SP SPORT 600 DSST
Dunlop 7010 all season tires, treadwear 240

When I said semi slick I mean that tires are using in the drag racing it's the same as the tires on drag race ?

Stock GTR tires are most definitely NOT semi click tires. They are full tread tires. Whoever told you that they were is sadly mistaken and has obviously never owned a GTR.

Sorry, can't find a website better than you. I know from 3 yr's ownership and 4 sets of tires, both old and new style Dunlops, and old style Bridgestones.

Stock runflat GTR tires are not semi slick. They are Extreme Summer tires for street use. They are not considered R compound tires which often have treadwear ratings of about 30 to 60.

Quote:
Since the RSS Z211, we've introduced R-s2 Z212 and the (newest) R-s3 Z222. All of our track/street UHP tires have a common pedigree in high technology engineering, which has a deep heritage with our venerable R-rated semi slick DOT approved tire (the Z214) which has recently been the dominant compound for enthusiasts and pros.

From tirerack.com
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Hankook&tireModel=Ventus+Z214

Quote:
Ventus Z214 radials feature a symmetrically designed semi-slick tread with 4/32" of beginning tread depth that's only interrupted by two circumferential grooves to reduce squirm, undesirable heat buildup and eliminate the need for tread shaving.

Another example of semi slick competition tire-

Typically any semi slick race tire will wear extremely fast if used on public roads and they are prone to tread damage.

The exception would be a harder rubber compound competition track tire like the Toyo R888
http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/proxes-r888-high-performance-competition-tires
It has a semi slick shoulder tread pattern
