Install of the Bellhousing

Hi.
I have had my engine rebuild.
Ehen i took the bellhousing of, i just pulled this out, and then took of the disk attached to the flywheel afterwards.
Now putting it back together, can i do it in the same way?
I see videos of people having the disk placed on the bellhous axel, and then bolting the disk thru the hole in the bellhousing after the bellhousing are inplace. Why??
