Just want to make sure that the Mickey Thompson drag radials in 345-35-18 mounted on 18x11 Volk TE37 SLs will clear without issues before I order them. I'm running the stock suspension and intend to run these only on the rear of my GTR. Thanks for any help.

18x11 is too small....you will need at least a 12

Why? Mickey Thompson says 11" is an acceptable rim width. I still think I'll have a much bigger contact patch than the 315 NT05Rs...

Do you know if the 345 Mickeys will clear the suspension, body work, etc? That's what I'm most concerned about.

Thanks.

contact patch will be bigger in the 315 just because the 18x11 rim is not appropiate to use the 345( you can use the tire w/ the rim , but is not the better choice) trust me!!

I think the 11" wide wheel is plenty wide enough and besides, the GTR is a heavy car so it will help push the tire down. You could be right if we were talking a 2000 pound car. Anyway, I just ordered the tires so I guess I'll be the guinea pig since it doesn't look like any other GTR has ever ran the 345 Mickeys out back...

well....I guess you will find out that you did buy the wrong size tire......
I use 345 in 12 inch rims and they round out in the sides a bit....but well....I really do not care if your is good or not!

Are you going with the 345 M&Hs? I was torn between those and the Mickeys but opted for the Mickeys because they're a true 345 whereas the M&Hs are closer to 325. M&H 345 = 28x12.5 and the Mickeys are 28x13.5. With the Mickeys I should be in good shape even when I go with bigger turbos later on down the road. What's your setup?

I ordered the M&H's. I don't yet have a brand preference, but used Mickey's on my rotaries years and years ago. I think the biggest factor will be the inability to add any heat to these tires at the track.

Currently have a complete, but not tuned, AAM GT-900R plus some extras. Possibly the middle bit of that sentence will be deleted tomorrow if I can pull off the schedule required tonight...

I hate being ambiguous and mysterious. Hopefully the next 24 hours go just perfectly and I will have much more to say.

Scratch that... M&H called and said they sold out! 2-3 weeks lead time. Have to make a decision to wait for the season to end (about that much time left here in N.E.) or pick something different. Anger.
Yes M&H is about 2 weeks out with their next shipment. I personally am running the 325/40 on a 11" rim. That way the tire is square on the rim. The M&H are more narrow than the M/T's in a given size. The 345/35/18 M&H will fit better on the rim since they are 1' narrower. But it will work either way. The key is contact patch. But you will have no problems with the 345's on an 11" rim.

BigBill, appreciate the reassurance. Hoping I can borrow some tires tomorrow. I don't expect much more out of original stock tires that are 2 years old.. (yes, the miles are that low on the car -- stooopid work schedule)

The 345 Mickeys are a lot more square on the 11" wide TE37 SLs when you let some air out of them and have the weight of the car pushing them down. I have a way larger contact patch than I did with my 315 NT05Rs. Car hooks way better on the street too but I won't have any short times until tonight...

For whatever reason my car never hooked with the rear NT05Rs. Not at PBIR or any of the tracks here in the Northeast. They just spin no matter how much I play with different tire pressures, lining up in the groove, etc. Do you guys set your suspension to soft or firm? I've always set mine to firm (R) but I think tonight I'm going to try comf mode...

Do you have any suspension?

I have stock suspension, Normal suspension mode and 3500rpms with no prep track and 4200rpms on a good track. 315/40/18 NT05R at 18psi on 18x10.5 Would cut 1.48-1.52 60ft all day long like that at the track and 1.52-1.56 60ft at 3500rpms on the street/unprepared track.

I know the 345's on a 11 will look better and no doubt they will work. But I know you want to run the widest rim you can for the tire to get the best concat patch while launching. The M/T's are stickier than the Nittos.
