Went to the local 1/8th to test some different settings on the car Mainly R COMF R Instead of RRR

and to race my buddy in his brand new 2011 challenger SRT8 with 470hp ( he ended up with a 8.4 @85mph)

pretty happy with all the 60fts and my traps.......

#1 7.204 @ 99.879 with a 1.652 60 ft time R R R AUTO

#2 7.232 @ 99.579 MPH 1.649 60ft time R COMF R AUTO

#3 7.253 @ 100.036 MPH 1.678 60ft time R COMF R AUTO ( Mirrors tucked in just to make sure i broke into the 100's)

#4 i took my friends 13 year old son for a run we did [email protected] mph and still did a 1.68 with 2 people in the car.... goes to show you how bad the track prep was when i could only get 1.74s at the 1/4 mile

oh and just for full disclosure my 99.8 and my 100.03 were in different lanes so the timing was reading equal on both sides

ya its at the very bottom of NC so this thing is passing to the east of it..

yeah really muggy out but we had good track prep.... so it will all come together in Oct/Nov... i want 6.9 1/8th and a 10.9 1/4 really bad... those are my ET goals.... 100 in the 1/8th and 125 in the 1/4 are were my Trap goals i can now cross off the list

when temps hit 50's you will get that 10.9x for sure.. just duplicate that 60ft time 1.65 and you will be set!
you will need a 7.0x in the 1/8 ..that should get you 10sec slip..

Nice work MC!
Thanks for that MC. Do you usually make your runs in auto mode?

hmm maybe 70%.... its just so consistent and precise its hard to beat.. had the fastest times on my 09 in Auto

and also with LC4 it shoots up to 7K so fast why take a chance when you want to make every run count...

tonight i was trying to determine if there was any advantage of comfort mode suspension so i wanted to take one variable of human error or different shift points out of the experiment
so i ran all auto tonight but at the 1/4 my times were very similar in both modes

so my conclusion of mode set ups its while technically i had a slightly better 60ft in COMF than R 1.649 v 1.652... while not adversely hindering anything it doesnt appear to be a huge difference.... in theory the squating down and weight transfer should be better on paper so why not use it.....

but at the same time i would probably see more of a difference if i did a tire pressure adjustment.... tonight i ran them like i showed up at the track at 32PSI
MC,

Was this in reply to the other thread about which is faster R-R-R or R-C-R mode?

yeah i mean i had that in mind when i went up there, i need some more testing but i wanted to put forth some type of findings on it
Those times smoke mine, great job matt, my track prep must have been crap.. Also how long can you stay in launch control and get max. boost? Once I staged I engaged launch control wonder if it sat there too long?

thats a good question... and i have an answer as i messed around with timing last night to test just that aswell.......... when i first got to the strip i pulled right up to the staging line and there was another car doing their burnout.. so i prestaged and then staged... the other car prestaged and i went ahead and started launch control..... it held for about 5 seconds and the guy still didnt start the tree.... finally it held for a couple more seconds and the tree started.... as soon as i let off the brake... it bogged and launched like i was leaving from a stoplight.... so i cruised the rest of the run and got like a 7.8..... still beat the car haha he got like a 8 something.... i was worried that would count as one of my 4 launches in a row...but it ended up not counting..... so really no more than 4-5 seconds or it will bog it seems

so the best thing ive learned to do is.. pre stage and let the other car light up both sets of lights then you pull up and start the tree... and start launch control as soon as you see all 4 sets of stage lights lit..... if you cant do this for some reason.... then dont start launch control until you see the first yellow tree light on your side....... you should be able to get to 4K just before you have to leave the line

if you look at the vid i posted i didnt take my own advice and it was held for about 5 secs..... my last few runs i made sure i was in charge of when the tree started.... so yeah there is a little bit of strategy involved in this

Thats quick enough for a high 10 second 1/4 pass.
Like Vegas stated, he will need 7.0 or better to hit 10's with 125 mph trap speed at the quarter. I think this is the fastest trap speed for 2012 stock GTR. I think the tune only is only couple mph more tops. Of course different conditions so not a fair comparison.

Yeah the car is strong.... 100 in the 1/8 and 125.5 in the 1/4 at different tracks different months and different DA's all this and So far I've yet to run in temps less than the mid 80's

So im gonna keep at it and see what I can come up with...... that's the challenge for me....I want to see what's absolutely possible with a stock car....I would be more excited to run a 10.9 in a stock car than a 10.0 in a tuned car but that's just me..
