Hello guys,

I do not own a GTR yet. From the moment the car was announced my jaw dropped. I knew i had to have it, there was just no better car for the price out there. I'm a engineer enthusiast. I don't only look at how fast the car is in a straight line, but the general performance of it, durability, handling, steering, technology added for cornering, traction, and of course power, and much more.

I never really wanted to sing up to this forum because i don't own a gtr but i came to the conclusion that what better people to ask than gtr owners themselves. i am 20 years old i do not work, but currently i am pursuing a mechanical engineering degree. Between my mother, brother, and I own a charter company for regional flights in south america colombia. we also own a Brick company which produce roof tiles Bricks and much more. the reason why i'm pointing this out is because I've been looking at my financial situation and i believe i can afford one, but the biggest best quality problem is that my parents taught me responsibility and i know jumping on a debt of almost 100k is no joke. the corporation gives me 5k monthly for food, transportation (car), and home along with personal needs. if i were to buy the car i would prob have about 20k to put down and extra to at least pay the first 6 months of insurance. You guys as GTR owners, consider that i can afford this car? Mind you, i do have another vehicle that between me and my girlfriend pay but its only 480 a month.

I think about it this way, worst comes to worst luckily i have the luxury to say that i can either just pay off the car with a bi**hing of the corporation but would manage, or just simply selling it. Please help and give me a honest suggestion.

thank you,

Victor

5k a month after tax? If you get used ~60k w/ 20k down. Payments arent so bad. Probably around 950$ a month if you have great credit. Insurance will be a bit high probably because of your age. I pay about 150$ a month for 3 cars including the GTR, but I am in my late 20s and married. When I was younger I was paying ~300 per car. Financially its probably not a good choice yet, but I wouldn't say impossible. The maintenance will get you though. Depends how much you plan on driving it. I just got a pretty good deal on my 18k mile service and that was 1200, plus the 1k+ tire cost.

If you want to buy new, thats probably a different story, but as long as your car is your monthly splurge you should be ok. I am sure many people will disagree with me here =)

PS. If by central Florida you mean the Tampa area, let me know if you would like to go for a ride in one.

Thanks for the suggestions man. Yes it's 5k after taxes, some times more money comes in, but it varies, so I really don't count on it. Never drops 5k though. I'm in Orlando, but once in a while I go to Tampa to pick up or cancell invoices for parts for the charter company. Haha I really appreciate the offer I'll send u a pm in a bit so we can possibly coordinate something if I have to go. Again thank you.

Feel free to ask any questions to further evaluate with accuracy.

Everyone's definition is different. Sounds like the car is more than your net worth. If so, my answer is no. The conservative people says this is a toy and never finance toys. Finance a toy more than your net worth sounds even worse. There are the other extreme finance the car and broke. Sounds like you can make the payment, but typical owners have more asset. It is your money, you determine how you want to live.

I am by far a wealthy person, but i had the opportunity to get a GTR even thought i don't enjoy 900 dollar payments . Worst case i can always sell it . But i didn't want to regret not getting it . Life is to short not to have fun ..
