Looks like the main upgrade from GT800R (step 1) are the camshafts and tougher rods / piston combo (step 2). Same turbo setup but a new looking plenum.

Very nice kit!
Looks like mine except I didn't go with HKS components for 'step 2' stuff.
I'm not 100% sure but was told the turbos are different. They are modified and limited quantity. But I could be wrong... is there a gt800, gt800r, gt800+ and gt800R+ ?

I'm sure progress is being made on the gt900 or gt1000 whatever its going to be called.

what's the highest power car you've driven at its limit?
That is irrelevant! Reality check: This video shows a 850 hp GTR, when 1500 hp GTRs are now available. The first time we saw a GTR with 800 hp, running fast, was..... 2 years ago! Remember the good old P800 running 0-300 in under 20 seconds, beating Hayabusas and LPE Corvette ZR1 in 2009! Now it is 2011, and after two years this kind of acceleration is just old news....

Skyliner where have u seen a gtr at that HP/tq on a race track? Sure plenty of 1000whp gtr's but they are all drag racers. Also hks is not done producing parts yet. They do very extensive testing also. I think they are keeping this at a level where they won't have to modify the block. What kind of gas do they test this on? I'm sure if they used higher octain gas it would produce more HP like we have seen on the gt800 with cobb from many of the US tuners.

I ask because I'm not sure that you understand the kind of handling issues high power brings to road racing. Also, don't underestimate the power under the curve - i'm sure HKS doesn't waste time when they develop their cars...

also, have you seen the 8-second GTR at a road course yet? no. why? are they still testing things? probably. does that make HKS' car less good? i don't think so.

btw, don't you remember when 500hp was plenty of power? 400? 300?

Going straight is nothing compare to a full balanced car like in this video. The cost to do road racing is way more than going straight and this 850 Hp will smoke the 1500 Hp car on the road course what GTR is designed for. The 1500 Hp can't even cool itself on the road course, don't have enough brake for it's power, huge turbos only good going straight on race gas, etc. With the cost of road racing many times more than going straight. There are plenty of drag cars that are faster than GTRs.
Going straight for 25 seconds vs. Wheel to wheel racing is it really a comparison? Engineers from Nissan didn't design the GTR to go straight with huge turbo lag.
You are at the beginning stage, it is drag racing, autocross, high performance driving school, time trials then road racing. There are very few individuals here that has the means to risk an $90k in a wheel to wheel race. These road racers have the financial means to get an alpha 12 easily and chose not to.
Reality check is work with what you have and get a plan to get what you want not compare others cars.
