Octane booster

Hi guys

Heading on a little road trip and access to my usual (97 RON) 93 Oct will likely be limited, I don't wish to switch to a lower map (95 RON) so is the use of an octane booster advisable or should I steer clear, it's only for this one trip approx 1,000mls then I'm back to my usual juice.

Most octane booster will only raise the octane level by a fraction of a point. IE making 91 octane 91.2 or 91.3. Its honestly not worth the trouble. Switch to the lower map.

I remember reading an article somewhere testing those octane boosters. The results were that you actually lost HP when using them. Id stay away.
Personally stay away from the stuff, I just mix a few gallons of 100 with 91 urine. I know it's not cheap, but it's better then potentially harming the internals.

get 10 gallon toluene into ur trunk. when ur out of fuel put 1 gallon of toluene and top up with 91 oct. should put u somewhere around 93 if ur too obsessed to run the 93 map. otherwise switch to 91 to be safe than sorry.
Read the 2012 low boost thread on here. I've had repeatable positive results from torco accelerator. 1 can per tank full of 91. Works prefectly for me.
Thanks for advice guys, I'll stick with the lower map and 91Oct if I can't find any 93Oct, don't want to take any chances as much as I want to keep boost.

Torco is good, and works as advertised. The other ones raise it by a few points, like 91, to 91.3 or so.
As above.

Most "octane boosters" do contain some extra detergents, cleaning the injectors from time to time. Best is a dedicated "rail cleaner" though, but many have wondered what that stuff does to the cylinder walls. No shops do it frequently enough to find out.

For performance, there is little utility to most of them. Some of them are just fine. You have to rely on data collected from your car, your local brand of gasoline, and your selected "booster". Anything else is just guesswork.

I see that you are a beliver of the Toluene your self

interested to hear more about Toluene... 2 gallons mixed with 15 gallons of 91 would yield around 93 octane correct?

+1 Torco is excellent. I just bought my first 5 gallon pail of it (after running through 2 cases of the 32oz bottles).

Chris, you know what would be even better and easier than Torco? Moving back to Florida and just getting 93 octane at any gas station.
