Road & Track found this video posted by Best Motoring recently, a 1989 R32 GT-R lapped Nurburgring in 8:22. Not sure when this video was filmed, but according to Best Motoring this is the original 1989 model. And as far as I can tell this is a normal production model, not Nismo, N1, or V-Spec.

If this video was indeed filmed 27 years ago, I can image those production spec tires were pretty inferior compared to modern day tires. A set of modern summer tires coupled with a really good driver, under 8 minutes I think is totally achievable.
