So today i bought the 2009 GT-R i was asking/looking at, only drove it home so far, and really like it

Want to thank the people who gave advice on what to look for, also got all the service records with the car since new (all serviced at the same dealer)

only things is it needs the brakes done, but will be doing them in a week or so, Light in the cluster for the gas gauge is out, and since the car is out of warranty i will have to deal with it for now, but will be pulling out the cluster and taking a look to see if its something that can be fixed easy or not

I also believe i need to do the Diff oil in it, the trans fluid was done less then 5k miles ago at the dealer but didn't see the diffs done at the last service when the trans was done, anyway, after i clean it up i will be taking some more pics and posting them up

Sounds like a good price to me. The lowest I have seen one sold for is 55k (ebay), and the dealer didn't want to honor the deal!

However, brakes are expensive... I think they cost somewhere in the ballpark of 5-6k if you replace them with the OEM brakes. There are less expensive aftermarket options though.

Yeah, aftermarket is 3-4 thousand if you replace rotors and pads.

Also, reason i was asking is because it is one of the highest mile ones i have seen,

also there is a 2010 with 7k miles on cars.com for 49k, but i am not sure if its a scam or whatnot, as i haven't heard back from the person yet

That is on the high side. Saw one at auction with higher though! 82.5k on this one. Went for a similar price to the one you're looking at.

05/12/11 PA Regular $52,500 82,553 Avg SILVER 6G No

So you think the one i am looking at is fair for the price??

also if anyone know of any known problems that i should be on the lookout for, please let me know

I think it's a good price. Obviously, no one is going to spend $10K for brake service at the dealer. If you change it to AP Rotors (w/t new hats) and Ferrado Pads with fluids and new brake lines, it will cost you around $4,500.

Also, make sure to see if the car needs new tires ($2K) and new fluids ($1,500).

Seems like a good price. Doesn't get much lower than low 50's. As long as everything checks out, it's a good deal. Check the carfax as well obviously.

If the car is out of warranty look at the dash to make sure the lights for gas and temperature are still on. Mines went out a day after I picked it up from dealer and Nissan will not replace it for you if your out of warranty. Nissan did not want to replace mines (as the car was at its 36k miles) but after a few phone calls they decided to replace mines in Seattle. Make sure you can buy extended warranty as I tried and they advised me they will not allow extended warranty as my car was purchased from a Honda dealer and not Nissan and they are not sure how many time the car has been launched and if I want to find out I will need to pay $300 for them to collect data from the black box. I did and come to find out car was never launched (Not sure if previous owner knew how to launch it as I didn't know how to launch it also until I started reading on the forum). But I found out even if I got the extended warranty it would be useless in Alaska as the Nissan up here is not GTR certified so no one would be able to work on the car. If it needed work I needed to find a way to get my car down to Seattle, they were too cheap to fly someone up here and the Nissan up here don't want to be GTR certified as they (Managers) advised me they would need to invest in at least 80k in equipment to be certified plus the training for employees.

So all in all three things

1. Make sure the dash lights work
2. Make sure you can extend warranty if you want warranty
3. Like everyone says make sure you check all fluids as they are expensive. My oil change only cost me $60 (Oil and filter from amazon) as I did it myself.

Thanks for the tip man, I read you story and glad you were able to get the car

I would be buying it from a private seller, and from what i read you can't buy a extended warranty after you are already past the 3year/36k warranty, so i think that would be a no go

I did look at the car the other day, didn't notice about the dash lights tho, Brakes need to be done asap as looking at the pads threw the wheels the pads are past the groove in the middle of the pad, also it seems like it is going to be a big pain for paperwork as the car is in AZ, but the car is in his brothers name and still registered in TX, all the paperwork would have to get sent to him and it just seems a little weird, and trying to buy the car cash, and not even having the "owner" to sign paperwork might just suck, He is calling me on tuesday to see if we can find a way to work it all out or not, So i am kinda hoping i will be getting my GTR this week

I always recommend, before sealing the deal - get a Nissan dealer to take a look into the ECU/Blackbox to ensure that nothing was done to the car. If something was done, move on! It wouldn't cost that much to have them simply 'check', most of them will do it for free, especially if it's still within warranty.

If the owner says 'no' then you know something is fishy.
