Drag racing has come a long way since its inception. With newer technologies pushing the limits of what is possible and what was once understood, it would make for an interesting topic of discussion. We are now seeing road legal cars pushing upwards of 2000 hp at the crank. The big caveat, though, is that power is limited by traction and is something that's left for bragging rights or the drag strip. Powerful street cars have become a big contradiction unless its hp can be used. So to keep this thread on topic, what are some of the quickest street cars out there from a dig? I'm exclusively talking about street racing, on unprepped street tarmac, in a street driven car. Roll racing cars don't apply.

Could be the case, but I'm talking about no VHT, no prep, unexpected, stoplight racing. I know R32/3/4 has a reputation in other parts of the world for being untouchable. Now the R35 is building that reputation. What other cars can take the cake?
Anything all wheel drive. Evo, GSX. Those kinds of things.

I am an old GMC Syclone, and GMC Typhoon guy. From a dig, I hardly ever lost. 4.3 turbo, automatic. 4 drag radials. Caught a lot of guys off.

I just saw a few videos of a 9 second Jeep SRT8. All wheel drive automatic V8.

+1

Had 2 Typhoons myself (black/black, white/white). Both stock but were really fun to drive.

Sean that Cyclone is nasty! It's sure to cause some surprises on the street. Do you have a build thread for that particular car?
Roberts truck. He is actually from.... Sweden I think. He brought the truck over to the US in 2006, out to the SyTy Nationals. I think it had a GT47 on it. Bowtie block. Maybe 4.5-4.9 liters of displacement. 4L80E trans.

Quickest I ever went with my Typhoon was 11.85 around 1999. It was pretty quick. Very fast on the street. Especially when I sprayed big.
