So I decided to remove the front emblem which was a pretty easy process, but I figured I'd share for anyone else interested. I think it cleans up the look quite a bit.
What you'll need is a flathead screwdriver to remove the 8 fasteners on the radiator grill. pry the center up and then pry up the outer edge and they will lift off easily.
After all 8 are off the cover will come out.
next you'll be best with a short phillips head screwdriver. A longer one will work, but it's a bit tight/awkward for the screw on the passenger side.
Unscrew the two screws attaching the backplate to the front emblem.
once those are off you'll see there is still a center piece holding the front and back together. You're going to have to basically pry the GT-R emblem off from the front, it snaps into place. It took me a few frustrating minutes, but the truth is that you have to be forceful and then it'll pop out.
Once the front is off you can push the backplate into the grill and remove it. Only downside is that the grill isn't perfectly uniform, it is inset a bit where the emblem was as a guide. You'd only see it if you looked up close though, not an issue if you ask me.
put the radiator cover and fasteners back on and you're done.
added bonus is that when you put the backplate onto the emblem and the screws back in to save it actually makes a good little display piece for a bookshelf or something.
I threw some pictures of before/during/after in an album:
