I'm going to ask the obvious just to make sure. Have you tried charging the FOB in the car?Hi all,
How do you replace the batteries on the GTR Key? What kind of batteries? Help is appreciated. Thanks
Pretty sure the fob doesn't charge in the car slot. Besides, replaceable batteries do not recharge.I'm going to ask the obvious just to make sure. Have you tried charging the FOB in the car?
The batteries are a couple of bucks....how much can you possibly save on ebay....Buy the batteries on eBay if possible, much cheaper than stores.

Oh wow...learned something new. A bit disappointing though. It seems like most cars that have that, it charges the FOB.Pretty sure the fob doesn't charge in the car slot. Besides, replaceable batteries do not recharge.
Me 2. Split the FOB using a box cutter.i just got batteries from normal store .. removed key part from remote and split open ..
If I remember right, the manual states that in the case where the key fob battery is discharge..insert key fob in slot to allow the car to be started...then replace battery. They are not rechargeable.I'm going to ask the obvious just to make sure. Have you tried charging the FOB in the car?
Agree, following the manual will result in damage to your key.this was helpful... took a bit of fiddling to open, but between fingernails, a butterknife, and a box cutter, the box cutter worked out best. There are some instructions on the interweb that tell you do put a screwdriver in the manual key slot... don't do that, definitely not how these guys are supposed to open.
But its like replacing batteries on a tv remote.Go to your local Nissan (GTR) Dealer, pay $8 for them to replace it (like I just did). Are you seriously trying to save less than $8 on a key for a $100k car?
