This has been very interesting and I don’t know what to do next.

I finally had the factory Dunlop's on my 2017 replaced by MPS4S Front - 285/35/20 and Rear - 295/35/20. Tire pressure set to 29 psi all around.

Since the replacement I have had steering vibrations at 70mph or higher, which just doesn’t make the car feel planted.
  1. I had Discount Tire balance the tires - did not fix
  2. Took it to a well established alignment shop - they checked the alignment and did a road force rebalance. Did not fix
  3. Took it to the dealer to have the suspension looked at, nothing found. Did not fix
  4. Took it back to Discount Tire and had them replace the fronts with a new set - did not fix
Not sure what to do next or what to check for. I know my Dunlops were loud and rough but I don’t remember them having this vibration in the steering wheel. I used to own an 09 which I had MPSS in square setup using 285/35/20 and never had this issue.

thoughts, recommendations?

That's really strange. I would assume that they are balanced by now (it's not rocket science). You might have another issue. Have you preformed any other mods recently? Aren't there other things that could cause "steering wheel" vibrations, for example bearings, and driveshaft?

Nope. No other mods - car is stock. That’s what I would have thought - bearings? Which is why I took it to the dealer where most local GTRs go due to the tech’s reputation. They didn’t think bearings were an issue.

They did do a clutch relearn since it has not been done when the car was delivered to the first owner. It did make the car overall feel smoother but didn’t impact the steering wheel related vibration.

I can confirm that it’s not dependent on certain rpm’s. Only happens at certain speeds. Maybe I’ll try putting it in neutral when coasting at 75-80 to see if it makes a difference but I don’t think it’s driveshaft related.

I would find out how much weight was added in the balance. It could have been a bad install on the shop. I have seen excessive weight added due to reading the machine wrong or adding it in the wrong place. Some installers don't even know what the small little circle stamped on a new tire is for. Anytime I get new tires I try to take them in as an off the vehicle install. That way I strip the old weights and clean the wheel as much as possible so the new weights will adhere.

Alright I tried the "increase tire pressure to 35" and that did not help. Also, I stand corrected, it's pretty much consistently bad after 75mph.

Here is a video of what I experience. GT-R Steering Vibration/Wobble
Bummer. I didn't think it was going to solve the vibration, but it was worth a shot. At least now your tires will wear more appropriately.

That is some serious vibration in the wheel. Sheesh. The only logical explanation is that they didn't balance them correctly. I'd take it to a more reputable shop. There are a lot of GT-R's in the Seattle area. Hopefully someone here can recommend a good shop. I also hope you can get some money back from these other shops. What a joke!

You must “road force” balance.

Alright here is an update

1. I had DT replace all 4 tires with new tires and this time I went back to OE size
2. I then had had the car taken to a reputable (confirmed with multiple car groups) shop in Seattle to do an alignment and tire balancing

Neither of this has fixed the issue. I have taken it to two different Nissan dealers and they didn’t find a mechanical issue.

Seems like an axle other kind of issue. Not sure what to do but given the car is under warranty, it’s something I want fixed!
