2009 GTR, mildly modified, no track time, no drag strip time.

I will do my best to describe the sound as attempts to record it have not been very good.

This happens when you are in a lower gear, mostly 2nd or 3rd, and you are allowing the car to slow down in gear without applying the brakes. As the RPM falls, you start to slowly hear what almost seems to me to be a warped flywheel sound that makes a grind grind grind noise. The frequency of the grind is tied to RPM, but it goes away once the car goes above 2000rpm. The grind is not loud, and honestly sounds like what a warped rotor would sound but it isn't coming from the brakes, and is pretty quiet, although noticeable. I'm not sure if this is an issue other people have had, or if there is any insight into a particular issue people here are aware of. With all the noises the GR6 makes I don't want to waste my time taking the car in for service if this is just another one of those "normal" sounds. I have never noticed it before, so it wouldn't seem to be normal.

Thanks,

Marcus

there is a known issue when the car is cold or the first time driven in a day it will sometimes make a groan sound ( like a quick RRRRT) from the 2-3 shift.... usually it happens only once or twice until the car warms up and it goes way

this noise is from the actual transmission though not the flywheel....so not exactly what your describing but only thing i can think of with out hearing it

Ok I have been able to get a decent sound clip of the sound I am experiencing. I am in 2nd gear when I made this clip, and you can hear as the car winds down in gear the sound I am describing appears. It also sounds like gear rattle maybe?

Again, this issue is independent of transmission temperature. Will happen when it is cold or hot.
