OK, since most of you guys own GTRs and are pretty much "well off," I thought this was a good place to ask this. Right now I'm a senior in high school and have all the usual stuff: top of my class, a high ACT score, and by the end of senior year have taken 11 AP classes. So I can pretty much get into some off the better universities out there, but don't know where to go or what to study.In the end I want a career that pays well, enough to have a GTR, and maybe a nice condo or house, nothing big. What careers do you guys think will be a safe bet to make around a 100k+ and what Universities should I be aiming for?

I know I'm asking alot, but I think some of y'all's answers might also help some others on here. Thanks guys

Exactly. Do what you love, not what you think will make you the most money. Life is too short to spend most of your waking hours doing something you hate.

Your question is far too broad, there are a lot of jobs that make more than 100k. Have you done any job shadowing before? Money isn't everything, you should be focusing on doing what you love IMO. If that comes with money, double-bonus!

My experience with universities have been 50/50. I know some people who went to Ivy League schools and got a very high paying job. In addition, I also know people that went to mediocre colleges that make just as much, if not more. Overall, it comes down to where you are going to get the best education. You need to figure out what area you would like to major in before picking a university. That will allow you to filter out some of the schools that are not relevant to your major, or do not have the best professors for instructing.

It depends on your goals in life. If it's to be rich and make money- the most logical way is:

-Go to a good college.
-Research the job market- who gets paid high and what type of jobs are in the location you intend to live?
-Pick your major based on the research.
-Work your butt off and make money

If your goals in life are to be happy:

-Smoke a lot of weed.
-Pick a major that will just waste your families money (Art, Philosophy, liberal arts, underwater basket weaving, etc)
-Graduate and work at a strip club or Starbucks.
-Be really happy because you chose what your heart wanted

Hmm, thanks for the replies! Let see, I like aerospace engineering, but with NASA, Boeing, and all the big aerospace companies cutting jobs, I don't know if that would be a safe bet.
Overall I like physics and economics ( finance and stocks), but with the current state of the economy, I don't know if finance is safe bet either.

IMHO the point of college at least freshman year is to get a taste of what you want to do with the rest of your life. Expose yourself to as many different classes you will enjoy and from there you will find your passion and declare your major by junior year. As far as the GT-R that will come in time. BTW I would give up my new GT-R in a heatrbeat for the chance to be back in High school . Enjoy your youth WORK HARD and the rest will take of itself.

Major in Finance / Accounting & minor in math and engineering. Once you get into that only shoot for the PHD when you get hired where the company will pay for your education, if you like doing items around cars and or motorsports etc do not mix it in with school work it will get complicated very quickly. Do not take out student loans unless you really need it. Hit as much possible the community college untill you can not take any more classes and pay for your own way going to school. Any time you get a job take care of it and always be there it never hurts to have good references.

Keep away from credit / psycho chicks and bad friends.

those are the key for success.

always keep looking for the career path you want to work in. Just start out with a a crappy job and work your self up, and keep looking for higher positions in other companies that have openings.

There are jobs out there and worthwhile careers, you just have to get pass the #sshole in HR.

and dealing with the co-workers in the office :

The manager in your department (um-kay do you have those reports ready for me on sunday?)

HR Accounting department when you want a raise:
