There are a lot of new features on the site, so I thought I'd write a few articles on some of the key improvements. This is by no means a complete list, but it should help get you started with the new software. Feel free to browse and explore around.

It's easier to mark forums as read or unread, and identify new content at a glance. In the forum view, click on a folder to mark all as read. Gray text represents read forums. White forums have unread content.

Within a forum, blue icons next to threads represent unopened threads. "Hot" icons represent threads that have gotten a lot of discussion.

If you mouse over a thread, you'll see a down arrow to the right of center, just left of the number of views. If you click on it, you'll be able to see a preview of the underlying thread without having to going all in.

If you hover over a member's username, almost anywhere in the forum, you'll get a popup with member info. Messaging that member is then one click away.

Curious as to who's subscribed to a thread or forum? You can now view the forum and thread followers in forums and topics. Note that if you don't wish to publicly follow a thread or forum, you can just go to your settings and select "content I follow" to find the option to follow content anonymously.

When composing a reply, or starting a new thread, you will see an all new editor. There are several new features here. For example, if you enter certain types of content, it will automatically be translated. Youtube addresses for example, become embedded videos. Flickr sets become embedded as well. Alternatively, you can click on the media icon and add media content such as a youtube link there, which will result in the same action. This is useful if your browser pastes links into the editor as hyperlinks instead of the raw text. On the subject of pasting links, you can also paste content from MS Word directly into the editor. And, if you've been working on a post for a long time, your content will be now autosaved.

i had to remove the link from the editor toolbar to fix some other issues. itll be back by the weekend. in the mean time:

for some browsers you can just paste the youtube.com URL to the video when you're posting and itll automatically show it as embedded. in other browsers you will need to wrap the link with the media tag:
Code:
YOUTUBE.COMLINK
you can also click on the link to the left of where it says font (in the editor toolbar) to have it bring up the menu to insert the media code for you and just give it the link that way

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
