Personally I am more afraid of the rods than the transmission.

The transmission if working correctly does not need to be built until after the engine.
I also think building engine is before anything else when you do a big turbo kit.

Build as soon as possible. I have 5500 miles. 3 launches Y pipe downpipes and tune later and I'm paying for it.

I think what has been said is that torque is what ultimately bends rods. Maybe HP also but I believe that is secondary to lots of torque early in the rev band. Stomping on a high gear at low rpm seems to be especially taxing.

Breaking hard parts such as gears and forks is very unlikely at these power and usage levels, but over time, the seals will deteriorate and eventually fail. Sensors can also go bad, and gear fasteners and pressure drops are also somewhat common. For your setup, I don't believe you need to immediately upgrade your transmission, but I would start budgeting for some preventative upgrades from now.

Our Dodson Stage 1 and Stage 2 packages are appropriate for moderate builds.

To elaborate on what Sharif was alluding to, here is what the stage 1 and 2 upgrades will entail:

Stage 1:
*Dodson Mechanical Circlip 1 (DOD R35 MC1)
*Dodson Mechanical Circlip 1 (DOD R35 MC2)
*Dodson Oil Pump Upgrade and Repair Kit (DOD R35 OPK)
*Dodson GTR GR6 O-Ring Kit (DOD R35 ORK)
*Dodson 68 Degree Engine Temperature Switch (DOD R35 ETS)
*Dodson HD FWD Gearlock and Circlip (DOD R35 GL)
*Dodson Input Shaft Seal (DOD R35 ISS)
*Dodson High Temp/Strength Pan Filter Kit (DOD R35 PFK)
*Dodson Heavy Duty Clutch Return Spring Seal (DOD R35 RSS)
*Dodson Transmission Filter (DOD R35 TF)

Estimated Pricing - $1,575

The stage 1 kit is more of a preventative solution for mildly modified GT-R's.

Stage 2:
*Dodson Mechanical Circlip 1 (DOD R35 MC1)
*Dodson Mechanical Circlip 2 (DOD R35 MC2)
*Dodson Oil Pump Upgrade and Repair Kit (DOD R35 OPK)
*Dodson GTR GR6 O-Ring Kit (DOD R35 ORK)
*Dodson 68 Degree Engine Temperature Switch (DOD R35 ETS)
*Dodson HD FWD Gearlock and Circlip (DOD R35 GL)
*Dodson Input Shaft Seal (DOD R35 ISS)
*Dodson High Temp/Strength Pan Filter Kit (DOD R35 PFK)
*Dodson Heavy Duty Clutch Return Spring Seal (DOD R35 RSS)
*Dodson Transmission Filter (DOD R35 TF)
*Dodson Uprated A Clutch Seal and Piston (DOD R35 PAL)
*Dodson Uprated B Clutch Seal and Piston (DOD R35 PBL)
*Dodson Super Stock Complete Clutch Assembly (DOD R35 CSS)

Estimated Pricing - $5,899

The stage 2 setup would be the next level, which is applicable to GT-R's that are slightly more modified and seeing excessive aggressive driving. There are also stage 3 and 4 kits available for GT-R's making power in the 1000whp+ range.

Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions or concerns. We're always happy to help.

Those are parts prices only. Feel free to PM or call any of us for specifics on install. We also offer a core exchange program as well.

Still in a state of shock IAW Dodson trany parts cost. I know they are unparalled quality but is over 25K installed to beef up your tranny to support a turbo kit to be expected?

If one were to do a 1st gear upgrade, plus top of the ine ProMax Clutch and supporting hardware, you are looking at about $13,000 in parts. This is overkill for most people. We could do a suitable package with labor for about $13-15K that would be great for 800whp+ and drag racing/street racing usage.
