Why don't a lot of people have Linney EFR builds?

My warranty is almost up so I'm planning my build. I was wondering why a lot of people don't run EFR turbos?

I'm planning a mild ~750hp build, pretty much FBO+ turbos and am considering the EFR6758s because I like the idea of the rapid spool.

For the record I think EFRs are awesome turbos. I sent several private messages to pgordon regarding his hard lines when I had placed my order for EFR 6958s.

Interesting. What else did you have done you the car? What times and trap speeds have you run?

How does spool feel compared to stock?

I have a new set of larger turbos being built and will be selling my efrs and custom hardlines in about three weeks for a great price if you are interested. No core swap needed. Turbos have about 8000 miles on them. And in my experience the USM is a great turbo but is journal bearing rather than ball bearing and not as responsive. Likewise the elite plus is quite a bit larger and laggier and costs twice as much so is not really a direct competitor. For a fast street / light track car where you donât want to lose any responsiveness of a FBO e85 car the efrs are pretty awesome. They just wonât get you 1000 whp and into the 8s at the drag strip (at least based on my experience). For reference my efrs did 860whp / 800wtrq on a mustang dyno at 1.7 bar. Any higher boost appears to not add much more power and sends the turbos out of their efficiency range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

TC kicks in and cuts power in both first and second with TSM elites. I had to turn down launch RPM to 3600 and air down to 26 psi all around on MPSS 285/335 for it to hook at FBO. On elites I had to drop the launch even further. Even then once the turbos spool up, TC kicks in. So drive with TC off and surprise surprise spin city. So had Doug pull the boost down. That seemed to do the trick.

Maybe an AWD controller would have addressed my traction issues. I couldnt open up the elites on stock motor and trans in first or second. So from my perspective any additional torque down low is borderline useless.
ok so this makes more sense you are referring to driving the car with traction control of. I personally would never do this it is plenty fast with it on and keeps you going straight . With upgraded turbo's i just don't see the need to take of. In my opinion a Gtr with upgraded turbo's pulls as hard as a plane taking of in a straight line. Everything is happening so fast that i don't see the need to put on more thing in the equation with turning traction control of. To each there own i guess

TSM E are a safe bet. You dont make money selling niche perfection. You sell in mass and dont take chances. On the other hand I believe Tsm designed the turbos specifically for the gtr.

I dont want to have to drop down one or even three gears before tapping torque when driving around in auto mode. The need to downshift is a lag equivalent. On the other hand I just mounted mp4s. They wont be like r888 I guess. Can you tell Im struggling? Will probably go elite by default or whatever my builder likes. Some builders like what they have in stock or just what they are comfortable with. That is boring but given my budget and angry wife...boring is good.

these cars go straight with TC off

my car will lay lines down the highway but the front wheel pull keeps it straight

Will you be making a thread about the new turbos? I have seen them advertised and have been curious about their performance and longevity.

Sure, I will do that in a week or two after I have some seat time.
