Thought I would post/note these wheel weight measurements for reference/community knowledge.
I have a 2020 track edition that has latest/last 2020/21 Nismo rims. According to Nissan, they are the lightest Nismo trim rims (Also found on the 2020 track edition and 2021 T-Spec).
I'm replacing them (Going in storage, not FS) with some lighter and .5" wider GA1Rs with Cup2 tires. I had to pull and weigh the Nismo wheels to calculate exactly how much weight I would save (super weight weenie) and it came out to exactly 40lbs +/- .5lbs.
Anyways, the tires on the Nismo rims are brand new so the weights are the same as specified. These tires are also the NR1 spec which the fronts are 2lbs heavier then the non NR1 spec fronts. The rear weights are the same between specs. BOTH front and rear oem NR1 spec tires weight 38LBS according to TireTack.
The digital bathroom scale I use is quite accurate. In the past, I've compared it to our calibrated shipping scales and it was spot on. I weighed each wheel 3X and alternated between wheels to confirm readout consistency. I will start a build thread with my car soon, so I'll repeat all of this info and future info in that build thread. But before then, here are the measurements.
Front Nismo Rim Weight with New NR1 OEM Tires is: 61.1LBS
Rear Nismo Rim Weight with New NR1 OEM Tires is 62.7LBS
So without the tires, the theoretical weight of the rim assuming the tires weigh exactly the 38LBS specified is:
Front: 61.1-38.0= 23.1LBS
Rear: 62.7-38.0= 24.7LBS
Conclusion: They are pretty freaking light.
Thanks, Snail
