^perfect! Sorry I missed it, Thanks! ... So now I'm confused on what exactly the vent is doing? I thought it was like the GT3RS in that it would vent high pressure air from the wheel area. Weird.

not sure as there is also nothing I think directly connecting the engine bay to the fender vent to dissipate hot air from there either.

I think Tamura told me on FB messenger a while back that the fender vents were to relieve air pressure in engine bay i may be wrong but almost positive he told me that will have to go back and look.

yeah it was heat from the engine pay. that was in one of the japanese graphics at the initial presentation I saw last year, but again weird because im not sure how the engine bay air gets to the fender based on what weve seen pics of.

Wasn't there mention of the fender vents being an additional stability aid to keep the front end from lifting and flipping the car in certain types of situations?

Someone posted an animated gif or video as an example if I remember correctly.

This is all great conversation, please keep going because this is bothering the hell out of me that it makes no sense... We need someone with access to a 2020 nismo to be a guinea pig and poke around

that is usually in full on racecars with the sealed bottoms, that totally flat surface can act like a wing and they can literally catch air and be lifted into the air. the vents in the fenders act as pass through for air and helps negate this. the GTR GT3 had a horrible wreck at the Ring and killed a spectator because of catching air like this. later years added the fender vents. the most infamous of all time is the Mercedes at Le mans that literally took flight in the late 90's.

most of the protoype cars have vents or even the the entire tire area cut out around the front tires like this

When i saw the 20 in the ny auto i didnt understand how the air was being moved out. If i had access to the nismo id take a few things off on the lift to see what is actually happening

Hey AlexR ,How is the progress on your Nismo with the New turbo upgrade? After going back and forth with MC about the Nismoâs. Iâm not going to touch the stock fenders ( great price just donât want to remove the front bumper to do it )or the front seats(to much money).I may do the 2020 brake kit upgrade when that drops in price or when I need new rotors and pads.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No turbo upgrades. Im still stock motor, trans and turbos. Its at Induction getting a few things finished up.
MC when i get mine back ill have to take a look on whats happening in the engine bay

yeah a N attack version of the 2020 would beat it no doubt. the problem with that is some cars have come in and done like what? 6:45 now so the NISMO running a 7:00 vs a 7:08 or something wouldnt grab the headlines like it used to

I also dont think the standard 2020 would outdo the 2015 N attack either. the 20 NISMO has things the N attack didnt like the ceramic brakes and a newer version of the NR1 tire. but the N attack had that Ohlins 4 way adjustable suspension they had set up just for the Ring. years ago right after it happened i talked to michael krumm who set the record about it on twitter. He told me the factory suspension of the NISMO was too stiff for how bumpy the Ring was and the specialized suspension of the N attack was by far the key to getting the better time over the factory car. the N attack had a decent amount of weight savings too and then those special LSDs the 2020 doesnt have.
I was told by Lamborghini guys that new tire tech (Trofeo R) played the biggest role for Aventador SVJ achieving the record. Also the ALA (active aero technology).

I assume new Tire could help 2020 Nismo set sub 7 second lap time as well as CC brakes. But as you said, it would not grab the headlines.
