I can get a 7 year 100K warranty for $4300... Worth it?

I am leaning towards yes, especially since mine is a preowned lease GTR.

Thoughts?

To me it depends on what year car your buying and how long you plan on keeping it.

But if I remember correctly you bought/buying a 2015 and in that case no I would not as you already get 3/36000 bumper to bumper and then 5/60000 on powertrain. So unless you plan on owning it longer than 5 years than no I wouldn't.

I'm skipping an extended warranty with mine. If anything happens, that will be the decision to build it and skip FBO.

I would skip it upfront as it overlaps the warranty that comes with the car. With a 2015 most issues are sorted out and your powertrain warranty is good for 6 years anyway. You will also be able to purchase an extended warranty right before your 3 year bumper to bumper is up. I always tell people to save the upfront money and put that back as a just in case fund.

The 7 year would only be a value if you had something fail that wasn't the trans or engine ect after the 3rd year and it the repair costs more than what you I initially paid for the 7 year. You are really buying is 4 year extended warranty that starts in Nov 17 basically and a 1 year powertrain extension

I was thinking this same thing

I almost always agree with MC about not buying extended warranties. In fact, I never have.

But this car has so many non-driveline parts that fail quite often and are very expensive. The dashboard costs $3,000 and look at all the threads about that!! The radio costs $5,000 and that fails all the time. (Nissan did expand that warranty) Everything on the gtr is stupid expensive to replace.

So it is a bumper to bumper warranty that would start at the date of my purchase, not the original purchase date, through National Auto Care. It would extend 4 years beyond the end of the current 3 year/36k mile one and 2 years beyond the current power train one.

I stopped by the Nissan dealer and discussed it and maintenance in general. In their view, while repairs are expensive, if the vehicle is properly maintained, major drivetrain components will be reliable; and while other facets of the vehicle could have issues this would be a very rare occurance on a MY 2015.

As I am annoyingly OCD with this vehicle I am going to see what the read out is from the local GTR tech during the POS/Oil change I scheduled for tomorrow and, if it is in line with what one said during the PPI I will likely forego the extended warranty.

I discussed it with the finance lady there and she said that they don't offer extended warranties period on new (or used) GTRs. That supposedly varies with who is backing the Warranty.

Also was quoted $1,159.00 for a full transmission service which is much less than I have seen discussed.

I normally don't purchase the extended warranties but Nissan offered me a bumper to bumper 6yr/75000. What bugged me enough was the cba sitting back near the service department waiting on a transmission. Got it for piece of mind really.

Apparently I can always purchase the extended warranty up until the manufacturers one expires ... Might be a bit more but I am passing on it for now. Factors that influenced that decision is that it's a 2015, PPI did not indicate abuse, scheduled maintenance was done, power train warranty is 5 years/60,000 miles and I am getting a peace of mind transmission service next week.
