I don't know if my GTR counts. It was completely stock when I bought it. Like, EVERYTHING was OEM. So far, I've changed the midpipe and muffler, wheels and tires, changed to the antigravity battery, and changed the rotors and pads. The next set of mods I'm doing are titanium intercooler pipes, sway bars, and some functional cosmetic mods (still maintains a mostly stock look) that can be easily reversed. I do not plan to do a tune or any power-based mods.

I'm always about reliability/durability, ride quality, safety and "feel" so I don't really care about increasing power. For example, I'm changing the intercooler piping to hard pipes solely for the increased reliability and durability. The rotors and pads were changed because of better stopping power and Nissan wanted $5.1k for just the front rotors and pads, where I spent $4.4k for BOTH front and rear. Lithium-ion batteries are just plain better

Mods that I'm considering but I'm okay if I don't do it:
  • Intercooler for better cooling capabilty or any parts that provide better cooling like an oil cooler because heat kills parts right?
  • Oil catch can
  • Coolant tank because I know my near 10 yr old car's plastic reservior is bound to start leaking
  • Performance dampers for better ride quality
  • Stainless steel brake lines mainly for better pedal feel
  • Carbon ceramic brakes for the longevity and weight reduction (might get the Nissan brakes so it'll still be technically "stock")

Why do you think that you need a catch can? I´ve had the Buschur Pro catch can on my FBO for six years and have never had to empty out a single drop of oil. Maybe you could spend that money on something more useful?
I´m not sure what kind of driving you do, I read just a couple of days ago on the forum that sway bars were overkill on the street. I was thinking about purchasing Whiteline before reading that. I think that there was a set for sale in the ad section.

I like to be proactive. If it means I lower the chance of making a $$$$ repair/replacement then I'm okay with spending money on the catch can - if I go through with it. As for the sway bars, I don't plan to track my car, but I do some aggressive spirited driving in twisty mountain roads. I don't mind if sway bars are "overkill," I like the idea behind them.

Our cars are "overkill" for the street - why buy a Nissan GTR, if a Nissan Versa is perfectly fine? Also, it's your money right? To me, whatever people say, its simply advice/guidelines. Whether I listen or not is up to me. There are no absolutes. If there were, everyone's GTRs would look the same, feel the same, and drive the same while using the same parts.

You ought to check out a Corvette group. Overall, as a group, they have been the most negative and close minded of someone's individuality when it comes to car modifications and cosmetic enhancements. First you have the stereotypical Boomer demographic, many of which feel all Corvettes should have chrome wheels, and the C6 Corvette is still the best. Then the younger, newer demographic who are just...well, very negative towards any changes to a Corvette. And I think the #1 "irritant" to these complainers are those that get scissor aka Lambo doors installed. Who cares? It's their money, their car, their way.

Imagine being such a weirdo that you think YOU can determine what can be done on SOMEONE ELSE'S property. I'd give those people an aneurysm with how much their words won't phase me. I swear, a lot of hobby groups are like HOAs lol

My point exactly. We all don't have to like how someone customized their car, and we are also free to have a laugh over it. But to dictate to someone why something "can't" be done, adjudicating what is allowed and what is not, and lambasting someone else over what THEY did to THEIR car, is the height of absurdity and extreme rudeness. Yes, good parallel about HOA's! But the biggest problem I have with my own is how the HOA board decides what to enforce and what to turn a blind eye to. They are very good about writing homeowners up for needing to power wash their sidewalks, but ignore people who drive 35 to 40 mph where it is post 25 and 15, plus blow through stop signs and not yield to people who are clearly waiting to cross the street. Okay, HOA rant over !

Not to get off subject, but get yourself on the HOA board, and/or threaten to sue them; I've done both at previous times and circumstances.

It is my understanding that bylaws and CCR's for most HOA's are written to be very iron clad, and makes it challenging to sue them. As for serving on the HOA board, I was initially on an HOA committee regarding landscaping and compliance. After the first meeting I attended, I found out the committee wanted its members to do volunteer work pulling weeds, planting things, painting, etc. I've been in my neighborhood for eight years and so far have paid over $6K in HOA fees, including a couple of special assessments. After paying all that money I'm not giving free labor to the HOA, and made me wonder why we weren't paying contractors to take care of that. I've seen good and bad with having an HOA, but so have I with no HOA. It's not easy to come to a happy medium over what are accepted compliance issues, and what are things that should be ignored.

I finally took Hiiragi to the track for some fun. Completely stock, and she was fantastic at the track. 10 hard laps with no heat issues anywhere. I did 40 miles just to get the hang of it. Being able to get into triple digit speeds in 4th is quite exillerating. I think i recorded video and if allowed, I will post some later. As capable as she is stock, I can only wonder what a suped up GT-R will do. I'll leave the mods to the more adventurous GT-R owners out there. The Firm is is Starke, Florida.
