Mine was delivered on 29 August 2008 and I paid $15,000 over list of $71,900 and it was worth every penny. I still drive it daily at age 84 and I'll never sell it. They can pry it out of my cold dead hands. Why are all those other cars a block behind me within a few seconds when I'm first in my lane and the light turns green? My Valentine radar detector has more than paid for itself.

I need to renew my TX driver's license a year early before my b'day in December. At 84, I get six years. At 85 it would be only two, and I plan on still driving it at 90 and beyond.

That's my 1997 Nissan pickup behind it. These two and my 1972 240Z and a used 1983 Nissan pickup bought in 1988 are the only cars I've owned since early 1972.

Good for you that you are 84 and still into high performance cars. I'm 67 so this gives me hope I still have a few years left to enjoy my GT-R. Like you I also bought an '09, though mine was ordered in August 2008 and it wasn't delivered until February 2009. When I was looking for dealers in the DC area, most wanted $20K or more for an ADM. My dealer in Northern Virginia first said $10K, then I negotiated it down to $8K. In the end I paid $5K ADM because my GT-R was one of several held at the port due to Nissan trying to sort out the issue with broken transmissions from people launching them hard and often. So, $5K over plus the GM threw in a leather GT-R racing jacket.

As for your V1 keeping you away from tickets, I am using an R7 with a custom configuration. But when I owned my first GT-R ('09) I had a V1. I still got a ticket once because the officer had me on laser. But overall, it helped more than hurt me, of course. I use my R7, Waze, and the standalone JB1 app.

If you ever find yourself in Albuquerque, you drink for free on me sir! Hats off to you - 53 now, picked up my 2012 DBA on Memorial Day 2011 (dealer wanted +$5K over but sold at MSRP since I was a vet). I can only hope I am in your position in 30 years! 🙇🏼‍♂️

The only ticket I ever got for speeding was in Virginia in 2012 on my way home from my VMI 50th Reunion, in SW Virginia where two interstates share a path, making it a speed trap financing local police and lawyers. I wasn't using my V1 because of detectors being illegal in VA. I paid a fine for something like "faulty equipment", and swore to never visit the state again.
I now use the latest Valentine detector. Six hundred bucks versus all the pain from a ticket? You're kidding me.
At 67, I wish you as many more years as you can find. In have doctors for everything to keep me going, and over half of them were immigrants. Deport them and I'd be in a world of hurt. My direct 8x great-grandfather [DNA proven] didn't immigrate to the US. He came to Neiuw Nederlands in the 1650's, since re-named "New York".

Back in the early 90s I was ticketed by a Virginia State Policeman for speeding on I-66, heading east towards Manassas. I did not have a radar detector. I did explain to the officer that both my son and dog were sick and that's why both were in the back seat. The officer responded by saying he would write up my ticket quickly so I could get home. Thanks! I did go to traffic court and even though the citation stood I was only made to pay court costs of I believe $27.

Regarding the immigration status of your doctors, without question I'm sure many medical professionals come from many different nations. But when I am seen by a doctor I don't ask how they got to the USA and if they are illegal or not. I'm sure such a professional has fully legal immigration status, so I couldn't see any reason why they would be subject to deportation. In my book if anyone has legal status in this country that's okay by me, because they are working, producing, paying taxes and contributing to a productive society.
