How does our GTR compare to 600LT McLaren?

Recently met a 600LT McLaren on the highway,

I was behind him, (my GTR is 2019 premium, not Nismo) then He suddenly started to drive really aggressively weaving in and out of cars (yes i know its dangerous and wrong). Adrenaline got into me, I tried following him, quickly switched everything to R mode, but I just couldn't keep up.

"Assuming" that he's a really good driver, but if we compare the 2 cars,

why does it seem like the 600LT changes direction

much quicker and more agile compared to the GTR, the way it turns combined with his acceleration made him pull away fast.

I tried to follow his route but the GTR has body roll and does not turn as quickly, I felt "slow" in comparison

600LT looks like it does not have any body roll and accelerates super quick.

He went away so quick I just felt dumbfounded. and didn't bother following him anymore. I know its no race but i just felt that 600LT was in a whole another level of sports car. I mean, I thought I had a chance guys..

3000lb car with 592hp on R compound tires vs 3930lb car with 565hp on runflat tires . It would have been even uglier if that was a 720S , 3100lb and 800hp

Cause it’s probably 1000lbs lighter wet with driver.

Ever watch a fly weight fight compared to a heavy weight ?

They are 10.4 cars @ 135 as well so unless you have turbos or E85 you won’t catch him.

STM just picked one up and I’m sure will have it at the track. Real world numbers.

I think you hit the nail on the head here: the GT-R was made softer year after year since 2014 and is now a soft GT with all the downfalls of it. Then add the weight and power disadvantage and this happens. In a McLaren with its trick suspension you can have both: soft and hard.

If you don't want to mod your GT-R until it is unbearable to drive on bad roads you will never be able to keep up in corners anymore. Now the GT-R's only strength left above the competition is it's ease of power mods and straight line speed.

^^ 1000+ lbs into a turn or corner - not happening - simply physics at play.

Your car is over 4000lb.
The McLaren is little over 3000lb. It makes more power to the tire. Its suspension is much tighter and its on a better tire.
Everything is playing against you while racing that car. That's why he drove away from you

Ive had 4 GT-Rs and also a McLaren 650S, now have a 675tLT. With much confidence I can say you will need some upgrades to hang in a straight line, on a road course you will need major upgrades.
At under 3000 lbs and with more HP the 600LT is no joke. Read any of the reviews, it is much loved and respected.

It better be on a different level at twice the price and only 500 being made! Besides factors mentioned above, it has a much lower center of gravity, carbon tub chassis, and other things that basically make it a streetable race car.

The GTR is a fast car, but the AWD will be a liability at speed vs a car like that. Supercars have really moved a lot over the last few years, partly because of the GTR. Ferrari and Porsche had to switch to turbos, Lamborghini upped their game, and McLaren wasn't even making production cars when the GTR first came out. You can make your GTR faster, but theres always something that can beat it. But you cant really drive a McLaren to work or to the store. The GTR is a very practical, usable car that has the performance to beat most cars on the road. But the needle has moved. If you're stock, watch out for tuned ATS-Vs.

As for other faster cars, 911 turbo, probably GT3 in the right situation, Ferrari 488 and F12, Huracan, R8 V10 plus, NSX is very close, Z06 and Camaro ZL1 at least on a track, Demon in a straight line (but good luck to the driver of thar car) are ones that come to mind. And thats stock cars. Tuned vs a stock GTR adds in another group including the ATS-V as noted above which can run low 10s with mods.

^^ solid list also donât forget the awd S63 variants from bimmer - M5, X5M, X6M with the trucks needing a tune only to crack 10s 5 runs low 10s tune only and will outperform a stock R35 on the track.

Luckily Iâd bet majority of GTRs are modded with atleast a tune and locally seems like with turbos.

Mclarens been killing the game stock for stock. Alien technology lol
I mean even if we forget the price tag.. Its V8 Twin Turbo vs V6 Twin Turbo stock to stock.. Not alien technology its just physics LOL I also laugh when i see Huracan guys try to throw in their fast stock cars.. DUH Mr V10

That being said i love the new McLarens for what they are just not a big fan of 50-60% drop in resale :D

You know the GT-R is less than half of the price of a 600LT right? That's a huge factor in any comparison. Not everyone can afford 250k for a sportscar. The GT-R is less than half of that.

listen, I love my GT-R more than anyone but there was a time the GT-R was half the Price of supercar x and still faster. Now its just half the price.

2008 McLaren wasn even making cars and Ferrari still built the 430 lol.

lets compare it to a car the same price range: BMW M5. Pretty similar performance but way better interior, more luxury features and more new tech. (PS: aaand looks just like any BMW 5 series, and is unrealiable and depreciates quickly. I would never want one. But I would like Nissan to get back into the game)
