Why not just get a Z...everything in the gtr was done on purpose...everything fits together to make it a gtr....to stand out and be separated from the rest of the Nissans

Is the aero actually better? From what i read, gtr has the lower drag co-efficient (.29 vs .26) It may be a fatty on paper but it hides its weight.

 

Drag co-efficient is huge...just look at ballistic missiles, they don't come down ass down..

The z's that got down to 2800lbs didn't have the heavy engine, transmission, and AWD system like the gtr....prob will not be worth the $$...if even possible at all

 

I think the VQ37 weighs in at 400 lbs and assuming the Trans weighs 200lbs so if you minus that from 2800lbs you get 2200lbs sooooo start adding in the VR38 is 600 lbs + 300 lbs transmission you get 3100 lbs maybe missing a few things...with regards to aero while the GTRs drag is .26 it has a significantly larger front aero than the Z

You'll end up with the same weight or more, less aerodynamic, the looks of a lower end car, and probably more problematic.

If it could be done on a 180SX(S13 platform) then I dont see why not on a 370Z.
I would not do it unless I had a VR engine sitting idle in my garage

I was thinking about getting a 240Z and possibly putting a VR38TT in it...total sleeper with Nissan Roots!

Trans would be handled by a powerglide

 

In all honesty an N/A VQ engine would be better for a 240z with a manual transmission.With a VQ37VHR you would be able to get 330whp+ with bolt ons and ecu modification.
It would have a better weight distribution and not overwhelm the chassis with power(which you would then need to do lots of reinforcement to)

 

Just twin turbo the VQ37. Much cheaper and will give you a similar powerband. And the GTR is a better platform then the 370Z...better aero, better wheel base, better suspension, better everything. Weight isn't everything, if that's all you care about get a Miata or 240Z.

 

As the title says, just wondering how possible is it to put a VR38 in a 370z along with the GR6 and AWD for the benefit of a lighter car, better Aero as compared to the GTR, can those benefits be realized,,Ive read people have gotten their Zs down to 2800 lbs without going too crazy,,,

so now we are arguing over frontal area of a vehicle being the 'everything' in a vehicle. Lol
I guess it has nothing to do with hp or trq or gearing or the x amount of variables that add up to reason why a car does what it does.
I guess if I take my wife's Durango and put a 911 front on it....it will beat a GTR to 200mph. .. lmfao

are you talking theory? ?? Would a z car 'in theory' ( if you remove all the logical, theoretical, realistic and $ variables ) perform better than a gtr due to aero....could be a fun question...

If you wanna see what a z car will do with the gtr motor, trans, awd, etc etc etc. ...go out and do it!!!! And be sure to inform us on the build and the results.

I definitely don't have the time, patients, or money to through at that....so till then... I will swap my gtr front for a 9 11 front to make my car quicker....
