That is one of my real concerns - Security vs Convenance! Make something that is too inconvenient and it won't get used!
The starter fuse looks to be in the fuse box next to the battery. That's a no go for me. They can have the car 😂

It was a pita getting to the fuel pump fuse in there and I wouldn't want to be doing that every time I park the car in a public place.

Well the more work that goes into a good install or hard to get to area, the more the thief has to work against.
True but I'm not understanding how it being difficult for an owner to pull the starter fuse everytime he/she leaves the car is a practical and realistic strategy given the fuse's location. 🤷‍♂️

exactly my point - It's not the installation convenience I'm talking about, but the every day usability of the system. I have no problem spending a bunch of hours to install a defeat system. I do on the other hand have an issue with wanting to get in the car and quickly drive it away. That's why I am really liking the idea of a fob remote control relay.

A bolt cutter will easily defeat these, cut the steering wheel and bend it to remove the club.
I actually owned one of these long ago and they aren't really very convenient. They will make a nice heavy weapon in a pinch though!

I’m referring specifically to wiring in a remote kill switch or relay. Back in the 80s and 90s when car alarms were more popular you would see in depth articles in the magazines about installers doing very in depth custom installs buried in the wiring or the dash. Using similar factory wire colors, similar wraps on the wiring harness and etc. to make it almost indistinguishable between the factory harness and the alarm install. There’s an infinite amount of ways this can be done. I have removed my dash probably 5 times just to do wiring.

Eventually people turned to the quick Best Buy / Circuit City installs that you can just look under the steering column and see everything because it was quick and convenient for the installers. People don’t want to pay for the time it takes to do it right.

And I think you can freeze the lock and hit it with a hammer and break it as well. I had thought of this as well, but I don't think it will stop them for very long.
That‘s only in the movies 🎥 lol

An R35 won't start without the brake being depressed.

There are a few anti-theft devices already around that hard-lock your brake into place. But it would seem to me that running a kill switch from the brake depression sensor would be less clunky than a physical lock, and a bit more simpler than trying to do the same to the fuel pump or ignition circuit. I wouldn't know the first thing about wiring up such a setup, I'll leave it to the more technically inclined in the forum.

Only the first install would be a pain. You would use a fuse tap that goes into the fuse socket and then its just wiring in a switch to the interior that the thief would have no idea where to find. Very simple yet effective, I did it on my first car a 91 Honda Civic Si. I even put a remote hood latch lock in the car so thief's couldn't open the hood.

Have done the same on Hondas which is easy to do whether it's pulling the fuse or wiring in the switch. The fuse isn't tucked in a place where battery removal is needed to get to it. Simplicity at its best.

"Pulling the starter fuse everytime you leave the car parked" was what I was replying to and on the GTR that's just not very practical.

Either way, to me it sounds like John's idea of a remote relay sounds like a great idea and it can retain some type of remote capabilities without slowing you down when expediency is needed.

I contacted the company that sells the remote controlled relay mentioned earlier in this thread and they replied, "We do not have starter or fuel pump relay information on your vehicle. Please call us if you have any questions."

Maybe another company that sells a similar item would work. It's a great idea. Any suggestions?

With Nissan Connect you would be alerted if window was broken or car moved beyond set parameters. You could also
get location of the vehicle.

I believe they’re replacing the BCM with a key that’s preprogrammed to their BCM, which is why the passenger side window is busted. I could be wrong, but this is what we concluded in the DFW GTR FB discussion when the first two got stolen…
