Seems like he is the type of guy to tune, drop air filters, and mid pipe and say his car is stock. The way he pulled that GTR is just hard to believe. But would a new M6 start to pull a 2012 at some point? Or is the 2012 GTR faster from start to finish?

 

To be fair the new m6 is a twin-turboed v8. But I agree both cars are monsters I dont think he'd pull nearly that hard stock vs stock 2012, would probably be a good race though Im curious of the outcome

 

I like the M5 and M6...in fact I test drove an M5 today. It looks great, is very nice, well made, quick, handles well, etc, but the M5 I drove certainly didn't feel anywhere near as quick as my '11 GTR when it was stock, much less now with tune/midpipe or a 2012-on version. In all fairness it was new and BMW engines do loosen up with time. The M6 is slightly lighter, but testing hasn't shown it to be significantly faster. In the end, the M5 is a great car, and the S63tu is a great engine, but I can't imagine a stock M5 or M6 having much of a chance in any kind of race with a stock '12 or later GTR, and there's no way or could leave one for dead as in that video. Fake, bad driver, or wrong gear.

 

4.4T M5 slightly outpaces GTR09-11 from 3rd gear in stock form, so does 5.5T CLS AMG. That's the hard fact.

Not sure how much potential people can bring out of BMW 4.4T and Mercedes 5.5T, but sure they're not the machines to underestimate.

 

bmw M cannot lose a race never ....even form an SR-71 blackbird ,ask anyone on M5board and they will confirm that with "facts" and "video".The bmw M3,5,6 are not man made ,they are created buy God himself ........ and make no mistake nothing else is better or faster .To argue with and BMW fanatics is worst than to try arguing with the radio, difference is you can turn off the radio if you get tired of listening

 

Just to make a note, F13 is the convertible and F12 is the coupe. I don't think the video was rigged. The M won this race because the GT-R could have been in auto, or VDC was on, or maybe he was in manual mode but wrong gear. All those factors could easily kill the run which is what we saw in the video. Point being, just because you are driving a GT-R, it doesn't mean you are going to win every race no matter what. You've got to make sure the car is set up right. The M6 driver had it set up right and GT-R driver didn't, otherwise the results would have been different.

 

I datalog a 2013 m5 and based on that I would bet it is faster than stock 2010 from roll. He did race the stock 2010 gtr and lost by 1/3 car but m5 might have a passenger as I will ask. He traded in the 13 m5 for 13 m6 last yr and says m6 felt much better. I have ran both cars and both are fast for stock. If you let a m6 take the hit from roll I dont think you will ever catch it with 2012 gtr.

I also drove the m6 and it is very nice and only reason he doesnt have gtr is the narrow seat and clunky tranny.

May be he ordered his M6 with extra M badge, I heard those are like 100HP spirit boost.

 

The BMW M5 and Nissan GT-R are not conventional rivals, but both have around 550bhp, cost nearly £75k and promise brutal performance. So which one wins our series of tests? Here is a review from autocar.co.uk. I know it's not a F13 M6 but i dont think the M6 would do that much better.

 

Im sorry but there's NO WAY the M6 is that much faster than the 12GTR. I test drove both the new M5/M6s a few weeks ago and they both had severe turbo lag compared to my 13BE. The GTR driver must been fallen asleep when he raced that M6.

 

Its very easy to have a GT-R in the wrong gear even if you "think" you are ready to go. I would like to see this M6 driver perform 3 races with the same GT-R LOL.

I agree that several cars produced stock out there have more bhp and can be faster than a stock 2012 GTR, especially from a roll. So has the BMW M5 or M6 (or any of those other less expensive high powered cars) run the Nurburgring in 7:18 minutes or less? No you say? Seems these cars pay a big price for all of that unbalanced power.

That is why a GTR is just a better platform, period. You can live with it the way it is, or you can modify it for not that much money. However a modified GTR can run rings around almost any other car out there, regardless of the price, anytime and anywhere. Why does it really not matter that a stock M6 may beat a stock GTR? Because you can always make a GTR go faster than reasonable, and as a bonus, a GTR will take corners, too

This has already been beaten to death in ten different threads on the BMW forums. The GTR was only running on 5 cylinders during that race. He took the car to the dealer a week later and had it fixed.

The numbers are great for research to purchase the car but not for racing (not a magazine racing fan). One has to go out there and do it. On paper the 700+ WHP 2013 Ford GT500 on drag radials own by a tuner would kill a stock 2013 Stock GT500. Well at the private rental for the entire day, the 700+ whp GT500 can't even run one 11's and bone stock member here ran at least (12) 11's passes in his 2013 GT500. One can easily get 30 passes that day since there are probably on 10 cars there. The driver that can't run 11's has run 9s before, but it is an automatic!

We just go racing for fun because anything can happen. I sure learned more from losing than winning that is for sure. When one combines a great car with a great driver, that is when it is lethal.
