The only downside to a GT-R is the higher price. But even at a GT-R's higher price, it is justified when compared to a supra in almost every aspect of tangibles and intangibles.

Yea the market is ridiculous rn. I'm patiently waiting right now for a good deal to pop up.

Also I've made up my mind I am going with a GTR!

Just got done with the 93 octane tuning on my GTR. I’m very happy, wouldn’t go back to a Supra. The GTR does everything better imo. (Besides gas mileage)

In between these cars I had a fbo RS3 and a 2020 mustang gt with 3.0 whipple, and the GTR is still king even though it’s not the fastest outright!

Interesting 🤔. Can you elaborate a bit more from your experience between these cars. Especially the Supra and the Whipple equipped Mustang GT.

I know it's not me, but i also have experience in both... the supra is a small pretty car, but it feels too small for me, I'm 6'1 250 lbs... the mustang is much more roomy and comfortable.

The A10 is crazy fast, almost like a cheat code... fbo e85 will have no problem pushing 500 whp and being able to keep up with a stock gtr from a dig and from a roll... and you cab go balls deep and the stock engine/trans will handle 900 whp without a blink...

Particularly, I'm not a big fan of the Whipple... too much torque down low, the "holy shit" factor is there because it's a lot of torque... but with a lot of torque comes a lot of spinning... you will need to run m/t ss in the back on a fat size and still it will break loose. I like more of a linear powerband like the ess supercharger.

Either way, any brand name suspercharger (paxton, Whipple, ess, vmp, etc) will give you good results and you can always upgrade the systems with minor stuff... a stage 1 (basic kit) will be good for around 600 whp... bap and injectors will be high 600 low 700.. return system and e85 will push +800 whp... and pulley down is super easy... gen 2 engines (15-17) can handle more boost than the +18 due to the lower compression, but +18 come with the A10 vs the A6, and that transmission is no joke... the difference between the A10 with drag mode vs a manual car, feels like you need f/i just to keep up

Also... there is nothing like the "gtr tax"... you can get a basic s/c setup brand new for under $5k

New bmw engines handle boost pretty good too, and supras move pretty decent with minor bolts and also have a good trans... i have a friend with a 135i N54 with about $3k on it and the little turd pushes like 550 whp and weight nothing... but at the end of the day, you have all the bmw gremlins

Lol all of these opinions are based on power and how fast you can make the car go in a straight line. I know the OP has already made up his mind, but if the budget is between a brand new supra vs a used GTR, is 100% supra for me. The main reason being most if not all GTR have been modified to some unknown degree, it is extremely difficult to find one that won't have issues in the near future (anecdotally speaking but also my personal opinion). With the OP being a 23 year old, I wouldn't want to spend all that money on the car plus potential large sum of money to fix the car if anything happens (unless of course you can do all of those work yourself).

I would also bet you that the driving experience on the Supra isn't going to be worse than the GTR. They are just different. I would pick a RWD Supra if this was me.

I definitely know what you mean. No one makes a car go faster to not abuse the crap out of it lol. That's why I'm looking for a stock newer one with no more then 2 owners. I do all mechanic work myself, you can't say you're into cars if you don't know how to work on them (personal opinion). I hope to not break it bc I will shed some tears but I also have a rule with "luxury Purchases" if you can't afford to break it or lose it don't buy it. I'm mainly getting the GTR bc it's a car I've wanted since I was 12 and no matter how much I read the supra is a better car my gut still still says to get the GTR.

I will say if a really good deal pops up for a Dodge Viper I'll buy it in a heart beat . They're FAST AS EVER and the best RWD car in my opinion.

Ok good for you. Glad you are going to buy what you really want and not let people on the internet sway you.

I know several people with the new Supra. The Mk5 supra is an amazing platform for the money. In terms of straight line speed, I'm already seeing these cars 9s 1/4 miles. I know someone who daily drives his high 8s supra. Amazing stuff for a car that can be had for $50k. GTR can of course do all those things and did all those things over a decade ago but, the entry price point is much higher and you're getting a much older car.

Downside I've heard from owners who aren't chasing big numbers or doing racing. Is the car lacks some theater that you want from a weekend/fun car. Supra is just really well insulted and pipes in engine sounds into the cabin. It has good grip but, just not good feedback from the front end.

I personally of course picked the GTR. It's expensive but, it's such a unique experience. As cars get more and more numb. I long for drives where I actually feel something and I think the GTR delivers that in spades.
